Last year I had the chance to listen to a speech given by Dewitt Jones. Dewitt is one of the world’s top photojournalists. Twenty years with National Geographic photographing stories around the globe has earned him the reputation as a world-class photojournalist. As a motion picture director, two of Dewitt’s films were nominated for Academy Awards.
In his speech he said that much of his success in life is based on a simple principle, applied consistently each day:
Take the very best that you have and give it all to the world. No matter what you get back. Give it all to the world.
I love this philosophy. I think about it every single day. It leaves no time for self pity. It is action orientated. It has, at its heart, the principles of creation, mastery and greatness. It is based on a standard that each of us can control. The very best that is in us each day, is within our control.
